This role will performs trainee actuarial responsibilities while in pursuit of an actuarial qualification. Their duties will be mathematically and/or financially related in order to provide highly accurate data analyses recommendations for use by Actuaries, typically in the evaluation of loss reserves or the pricing of business. They will also be required to train less experienced colleagues.
Provide basic actuarial services in order to fulfil routine business requirements.
Monitor and analyse data according to tools, methods and formats and recommend appropriate action to mitigate risk and optimize business benefits. Perform more complex analyses as assigned.
Compile and categorize increasingly complex data, documents and verify factors and assumptions used in computations to ensure robust output.
Assist in the development of risk based capital models as well as parameterization and allocation activities to support actuarial services.
Participate in the evaluation and review of new/proposed processes and systems, where analysis is conducted to support the implementation of upgraded systems.
Leverage actuarial skills and knowledge to provide specialist advice to address specific technical queries from internal clients in order to provide first class customer service.
Demonstrate further increasing knowledge of relevant actuarial disciplines and procedures, and apply this knowledge to achieve business objectives and deliver first class customer service.
Continue to advance in pursuit of local actuarial qualification and demonstrate consistent progress towards designation in order to maintain the talent pipeline for Actuarial.
Training of less experienced actuarial staff.
Your skills and experience:
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Mathematics/Statistics, Other, Sciences
Experience in multiple functional areas (pricing, reserving, capital management, etc.) preferred.
Good communication and interpersonal skills to be able to effectively interact and negotiate at all levels.
Have business acumen with knowledge of the insurance industry.
Have a good knowledge of actuarial professional guidance and relevant legislation
Good knowledge of Insurance finance and corresponding actuarial concepts.
Good knowledge of pricing, statistics and actuarial modelling.
Ideally have a good knowledge of product development within the insurance industry.
Be numerate with good analytical skills.
Have a professional, enthusiastic positive and engaging manner.
Be able to meet deadlines especially when under pressure or faced with change.
Exceptional PC Skills (Excel, Excel VBA, etc. - EMBLEM and other EMB software desirable).
